Question. Question. Question.

“Location. Location. Location.” We have all heard this before. Whether you are physically searching for a house or watching someone on a TV show, everyone is familiar with this phrase. Location is a very important step to think about when it comes to purchasing a home. Many people will spend a substantial amount of time researching and looking into different locations.

Why should it be different when it comes to examining your life? When preparing to make a change you must first look at where you are in the present. Then, looking to see what needs to be changed and where things need to change, your life comes into focus. This is similar to house hunting because you first look where you are now and decide where you want to be in the future based on certain factors.

The Four Helpful Lists of questions expands the “Question. Question. Question.” process into more than black and white. It stretches you to dig deep. What is going right in your life? What is going wrong? What is confusing and requires clarification? And finally, what is missing in your life?

For me, I felt God’s blessing in my life while working through these questions. I had more things right than anything else! But, the other categories needed some serious work. I needed to change one major aspect in my life. I needed a constant set time with God daily and a location to study my Bible. This was a huge oversight in my life. I needed to change my daily routine. My mornings were wrong. I was waking up with little time to spare for God. I was telling God with my actions that my time to sleep trumped my time to spend with him. This was not okay.

Looking further into what was confusing and missing in my life, I was able to see a clear picture of where I was in this stage of life. I built a starting point with my objectives (see my blog post about that HERE) and now I was able to grow and move forward from the starting line. It is from these questions I was able to put into perspective what I needed God to do in my life. I needed some clarification on things to maximize, change, and add in my life.
